8th March
Update on Cracker....

After 2 weeks of treatment and being kept quiet Cracker's eye was looking amazing, no discharge, very nearly totally clear and I was hopeful that he was maybe seeing shadows/outline's but then sadly on Wednesday morning things had changed drastically.
I had put his last drops in at 22.30hrs Tuesday night and put Cracker to bed as normal, by Wednesday morning both his eye's had infection and discharge to the point I couldn't even see his injured eye,  it was so swollen and inflamed inside, Cracker was in a huge amount of pain.
I made an emergency appointment with Veterinary Vision at Penrith and saw Richard on Wednesday afternoon, unfortunately with these sort of injuries there was no way of knowing what had gone wrong but basically the eye was worse than when he first injured it. It was clear the best course of action was now to remove his eye, I couldn't keep trying to save it seeing how much pain Cracker was in, he was also becoming very depressed due to constantly wearing the cone, having to have drops applied 6 times a day and only being allowed short on lead walks twice a day, he was also missing the other dogs enormously as he had to be kept on his own to avoid infection risks.
His quality of life is more important to me than an eye he is already blind in, so yesterday morning he went into my own vets and had the eye removed, even when I collected him yesterday afternoon he was a different dog, back to his old self and as crazy as ever!
He is a little sore as expected but the severe pain he was in has gone, he is moving around as normal and has been out for a walk this morning, although still on lead at the moment at least he could spend time with the other dogs. Another week and the wound should be healed and he will be back to running around like the crazy fool he is.
I have had a far harder time dealing with the loss of his eye than Cracker has but looking at him today I know I made the right decision. As this has been an injury and nothing hereditary that could be passed on Cracker will still be standing at stud in the coming weeks once he is fully healed. He also has 2 litters due in the next couple of weeks and I cannot wait to see what arrives!

2nd March 2019
Sorry its been such a long time since last update, its just been so busy I never seem to have a minute!
Briar came into season and has been down to be mated to Ftch Gournaycourt Ginger, due to distance she has just had the 1 mating so fingers crossed it was a success, she will be scanned in a couple of weeks and I will update.
There are quite a few stud litters due over the coming weeks from all 3 boys, all details on stud pups for sale page.
Sadly Cracker has had a serious accident and has had to have specialist surgery on his left eye, its unknown what really happened but it appears he has been poked in the eye by a thorn or similar whilst hunting causing damage to the Cornea and Lens further back in his eye. Unfortunately its unlikely he will ever see properly from that eye but at this time we are trying to keep his eye as long as possible although there is still no guarantee it wont have to be removed.
Cracker is the most hyper of all my dogs and he is struggling with having to be confined to on lead walks but so far so good, hopefully there will be some good news when he is back at the vets on Thursday 7th March when I will get more info on how his eye is healing.
He will, as many other dogs do manage perfectly well with 1 eye if that is the eventual outcome but I wanted to try and save his eye rather than immediately just go ahead and have it removed without even trying. I will update as things progress.

29th January 2019

30th November
Some good news today, my young dog Eddie-Cragglands Young Phantom has tested clear/non carrier for PRA, Fn, AMS & EIC, he will have his PLA and eyes done next year, I hope to be able to stand him at stud when he is older. He is one of the nicest, most intelligent pups I've ever had, with stunning looks as well.
He is so easy to do anything with and picks thing's up really quick, he's like a sponge.
He has also been colour coat tested and carries the Tan gene as well as Red & Brown. He is a very obedient dog and loves to be with you all the time, never takes his eye off you when training and likes to stay close, he also has to have something in his mouth always! I will get a page set up for him shortly.

All doing well so far, 1 bitch has been left undocked as she lost birth weight and was just starting to gain again at time of docking, so safer to leave her and let her grow, she is available along with a dog pup.
All details are on the Pups For Sale Page, pups are all Blue Roan & Tan, or Tri Coloured.

There are 2 Chocolate Sprocker Dog Pups left available, a Black & White Ticked Bitch & a Black Dog Pup, allbefore any other pups are available.

7th June
Sox and Cedar have both been to Barnard Castle today for eye testing, both passed no problem and both are graded PLA 0 (Glaucoma). This was a first time testing for Cedar and she was good as gold, this is Sox's 5th BVA test and 2nd Glaucoma test as this is now recommended 3 yearly to check for any changes and early indications of disease.
As Sox is my own 4th generation of breeding its reassurance for me that my breeding lines are remaining healthy as the dogs get older.
